Taste of Ellsworth Digital Celebration

The annual celebration of downtown Ellsworth eateries, known as Taste of Ellsworth, will be held digitally this June. With sponsorship support from Machias Savings Bank the Heart of Ellsworth has teamed up with new-to-Ellsworth residents and local foodies, Wayne and Jemily Ayers-Creech to highlight six downtown destinations.  Airline Brewing Company, Finns, Flexit, Fogtown, Provender, and Serendib signed on to join the COVID-19 safe celebration and each will be the focus of a video produced by the foodie duo.

Follow along for the month of June as we visit downtown Foodpreneurs who share the story behind their establishment, passion for food, and how their path led them to downtown Ellsworth. Each week a new video will be released on the Heart of Ellsworth YouTube, Instagram and Facebook platforms.

 Downtown Ellsworth Wayfinding Map

Looking to navigate your way around downtown Ellsworth this summer? With the arrival of many new shops along Main Street, Heart of Ellsworth has created an informative and illustrative map showing the many things to do in the downtown district.

With sponsorship support from Machias Savings Bank, this map will be printed in large format and adhered to the outside of the former JB Atlantic building for downtown visitors to interact with as they visit the Main Street district.

Additionally a PDF version of the map will be distributed to eateries and shops for online distribrution to their customers. All businesses are encouraged to post on their websites. As funds become available the map will be printed and distributed for free circulation.

Anne F. Greeley was an exceptionally important Ellsworth citizen and merchant who purchased a dry goods store in 1851—a two-story wood frame building that stood roughly where the eastern end of Camden National Bank is today—at the young age of 20. She continued in business 38 years. She was Ellsworth’s pioneer businesswoman and one of the first women in the state of Maine to engage in business. A women’s suffragist and founder of Ellsworth’s Unitarian Church, she died in 1914.

Why donate to the Heart of Ellsworth?
Heart of Ellsworth remains focused and committed to economic growth through projects in the urban core.

Our vision seeks to fill storefronts on Main Street, secure a location for the Winter Farmers Market, develop the Union River waterfront with green space along the river, and identify and assist in the creation of more downtown housing options. Collectively, these enhance opportunities for both visitors and community members to enjoy all that Ellsworth has to offer.
Your contribution ensures that we can remain committed to these goals.
