Meet the Committee: Design
This March, we are dedicating each week to meeting one of our four committees. Based on Main Street America’s Four Point Approach, the four committees work together to build a sustainable and complete community revitalization effort.
This week, we’re spotlighting the Design Committee, the group that consistently turns ideas into visible change.

Where vision meets action
The Design Committee focuses on the physical and visual experience of downtown Ellsworth. They look at how spaces function, how they feel, and how they reflect the identity of the community. Then they get to work.
This is the team behind many of the details that shape your experience downtown, from beautification efforts and greenery to public art, gathering spaces, and creative installations.
They think about what makes a place inviting. What encourages someone to linger. What builds pride for the people who live and work here.
The “get it done” energy
What makes this committee stand out is how action oriented it is. Ideas do not sit for long. If something can be improved, enhanced, or reimagined, this group finds a way to move it forward.
That might look like transforming underused spaces, supporting public art projects, or adding elements that make downtown feel more vibrant and connected. It is hands-on, collaborative work that shows up in real time.
Who should join
If you like working with your hands, thinking creatively, or being part of projects you can see and experience when they are complete, Design is a great place to plug in.
It is also a great fit for anyone who cares about how a place looks, feels, and functions, and wants to be part of shaping that experience for the community.
