Discover Ellsworth is a year-round tourism initiative created by Heart of Ellsworth and the City of Ellsworth to showcase Ellsworth as both a destination in its own right and a welcoming hub for exploring Downeast Maine and Acadia.

The project highlights the experiences that make Ellsworth worth more than a quick stop, including local arts and culture, historic places, independent businesses, dining, outdoor recreation and community events. By helping visitors spend more time in Ellsworth and discover the surrounding region, the initiative supports local businesses, encourages overnight stays and contributes to a more connected and sustainable tourism economy.

About the Project

Discover Ellsworth was developed through the Tourism Marketing & Development Recovery Program, with funding from the Maine Office of Tourism and support from the U.S. Economic Development Administration.

The project was shaped through a year-long collaborative process involving Heart of Ellsworth, the City of Ellsworth, the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce, Downeast Acadia Regional Tourism, the Downeast Maine National Heritage Area, Maine Downtown Center, Frenchman Bay Conservancy and other community partners.

That work produced a comprehensive tourism marketing plan, a new destination brand, a collection of more than 400 professional photos and videos, and new tools for understanding visitor trends and engagement. At the center of it all is DiscoverEllsworth.org, a digital resource designed for visitors, residents and anyone welcoming friends and family to the area.
