Downtown Volunteer Day

  • Downtown Ellsworth 3 Franklin Street Ellsworth, ME, 04605 United States (map)

Heart of Ellsworth invites the community to roll up their sleeves for their Downtown Volunteer Day, a beautification effort taking place on Friday, May 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in downtown Ellsworth.

Volunteers are encouraged to come ready to work rain or shine as the day will involve several hands-on tasks to enhance the downtown, including:

  • Planting arborvitae trees that have outgrown their planters.

  • Installing ten new arborvitaes along Main Street.

  • Planting and placing flower boxes along the downtown bridge.

  • Assisting the City of Ellsworth in planting hanging flower baskets, which will be displayed on light poles throughout the city.

“Volunteering isn’t just good for our city – it’s good for the soul. When we take time to plant, care, and contribute, we’re not just improving our surroundings, we’re improving ourselves. You don’t need experience, just a willingness to help. Everyone is welcome! If you ever wished Ellsworth looked or felt a little different, this is your change to be part of that change. As the saying goes: Be the change you want to see inf the world -- and let’s start right here in our own backyard,” says City Councilor, Tabatha White. Councilor White also serves on the City of Ellsworth’s Arbor Commission, as well as the Heart of Ellsworth board and design committee.

Participants are asked to dress appropriately for the weather and bring gardening gloves and tools if they have them. All are welcome—no gardening experience required!
