Meet the Candidates offers two opportunities to connect with Ellsworth candidates

Ellsworth residents will have two opportunities to meet candidates for local office this month as Meet the Candidates returns with a City Council forum Oct. 13 and a new gathering for school board and library trustee candidates Oct. 21.

Presented by Heart of Ellsworth in partnership with The Ellsworth American, Ellsworth Public Library and the City of Ellsworth, the annual nonpartisan event helps residents learn about the people seeking to represent them ahead of the November election. Events like these connect community members with opportunities to participate in local democracy.

The City Council forum will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at The Grand, where four candidates running for two seats will be featured. Robert Grant Sr., Casey Hanson, Tiffany Gaspar and Nancy Smith will take the stage alongside Cyndi Wood, managing editor of The Ellsworth American, who will moderate. The forum is free and open to the public, with a livestream and recording available on the City of Ellsworth’s YouTube channel. Residents may submit questions for possible inclusion by emailing news@ellsworthamerican.com or completing an index card at the event.

New this year, candidates for the Ellsworth School Board and Ellsworth Public Library Board of Trustees will gather at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Ellsworth Public Library. The informal, conversational setting will give residents an opportunity to introduce themselves, share their questions and learn more about the people interested in serving their schools and library.

By including school board and library trustee candidates, Meet the Candidates builds on its commitment to nonpartisan voter education, offering a welcoming space to share priorities and make informed decisions.
