Community Support Helps Beautify Downtown Ellsworth

There are trees and flowers lining the Union River Bridge and Main Street, and we have some very good people to thank for it.

This seasonal beautification effort is part of Heart of Ellsworth’s ongoing Design work within the Main Street Four-Point Approach. Design focuses on the physical and visual experience of downtown, including the small details that help a place feel welcoming, cared for and connected. Trees, flowers, clean sidewalks and inviting public spaces all play a role in how people experience downtown Ellsworth.

This year’s trees and flowers were planted during the first Downtown Volunteer Clean Up of the season on May 16. Volunteers came together to help prepare downtown for the warmer months, adding color and care to the places where people walk, work, visit, shop, eat and gather.

Heart of Ellsworth extends major thanks to the volunteers who gave their time and energy to plant, clean and care for downtown. Their work helped bring this project from planning into place.

This effort was also made possible through generous sponsor support. Thank you to Heart of Ellsworth’s Beautification Sponsor, Versant Power, for supporting work that helps make downtown Ellsworth more welcoming and vibrant.

We are also grateful to this year’s community sponsors: The Bud Connection, Uncle Buggy’s Hotel for Dogs, The ZAO, Eden Street Flowers, Sara Hessler in loving memory of Ann Johnson and Lynnabeth Olwin, Coastal Interiors, Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, Judi and Rick Lyles, Fogtown Brewing Company, Alchemist Salon and Maretta Taylor.

Together, these sponsors and volunteers are helping add beauty, care and community pride to downtown Ellsworth this season.

Beautification may begin with trees and flowers, but its impact reaches further. These details support the larger vision for a downtown that feels active, inviting and loved. They remind residents, visitors and business owners that downtown is not just maintained. It is cared for by a community of people and partners who believe in its value.

Thank you to every sponsor and volunteer who helped make this season’s downtown trees and flowers possible. Your support helps keep downtown Ellsworth looking cared for, welcoming and full of life.
