Jane’s Walk Returns to Ellsworth for Another Year of Community Conversation

Jane’s Walk returned to Ellsworth on Saturday, May 2, continuing a local tradition of community-led walks that invite people to explore the places, stories, and ideas that shape our city.

This event has become a familiar spring opportunity to slow down, walk together, and see Ellsworth through new perspectives. This year’s event featured seven walks focused on history, walkability, art and more.

About 40 people took part across the day, joining conversations at Woodlawn, The Grand, the Ellsworth Riverwalk, and along Main Street. Walks focused on the future of walkability, seaweed, and the Riverwalk Sculpture Trail drew especially strong interest.

The day reflected what makes Jane’s Walk meaningful year after year: neighbors learning from neighbors. Participants shared observations, asked questions, remembered local history, and imagined what Ellsworth’s streets, sidewalks, riverfront, and gathering spaces have and could become.

Thank you to the walk leaders, local partners, Maine Preservation, and everyone who joined us this year. Your time, stories, and curiosity continue to make Jane’s Walk a thoughtful and welcoming tradition in Ellsworth.

We’re grateful to see this event keep growing, and we’re already looking ahead to making next year’s walks even easier to join through clearer meeting-point signs and printed schedules.
