Maine Outdoor Film Festival Selects Tour returns to Ellsworth with expanded evening at Knowlton Park

Heart of Ellsworth will host the Maine Outdoor Film Festival Selects Tour from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Knowlton Park, 160 State St. The festival moves from the Franklin Street Parklet this year, creating room for food vendors, community partner tables and a raffle before the outdoor screening begins. The rain date is Wednesday, Sept. 2.
The Maine Outdoor Film Festival curates film experiences exploring the beauty, interactivity and complexity of the planet. The Ellsworth program includes seven short films that together explore Maine conservation and art, winter adventure, outdoor culture and relationships to place.
The event is presented by Heart of Ellsworth in partnership with Frenchman Bay Conservancy, VOLTA Climbing Gym and the City of Ellsworth. Admission is free and the event welcomes all ages.
Food vendors and community tables open at 6 p.m. Raffle ticket sales close at 7 p.m., followed by the drawing and event welcome at 7:10 p.m. Films begin at 7:30 p.m. and the program will run about 90 minutes. Attendees should bring a camp chair or blanket and follow Leave No Trace practices.
The raffle will award more than $1,000 in prizes to three winners. Prizes include a VOLTA climbing pass valid for one month, a Frenchman Bay Conservancy Sea Bags package and a Bar Harbor cabin stay for two nights. Raffle proceeds will support Heart of Ellsworth programming, with a portion donated to the Grayson Mote Memorial Scholarship at Ellsworth High School in memory of Grayson, whose love of outdoor adventure is reflected in the spirit of the selected films.
Tickets are available at 16 State St. leading up to the event and at Knowlton Park from 6 to 7 p.m. on festival night. The event night raffle accepts cash only. An optional $10 MOFF Supporter Special is also available online and includes five raffle tickets and a 04605 Heart sticker.
