Camden National Bank’s Community Well-Being Day Supports Downtown Beautification

On Wednesday, Sept. 9, Camden National Bank employees stepped away from their usual workday and joined Heart of Ellsworth’s Design Committee volunteers for an afternoon of hands-on work in downtown Ellsworth.

Together, the volunteers got their hands dirty weeding sidewalks along State and Water streets, as well as portions of Main Street. Their work helped clear overgrown areas and give these well-traveled areas some needed attention as the seasons begin to change.

The volunteer afternoon supported the Design Committee’s ongoing beautification efforts. Made up of community volunteers, the committee works to enhance the physical and visual elements of downtown while building on the character that makes Ellsworth unique. Seasonal cleanups are an important part of that work, helping care for shared spaces and creating a downtown that feels welcoming to residents, businesses and visitors.

Camden National Bank launched its first Community Well-Being Day in 2025, closing operations for one business afternoon so employees could volunteer with nonprofits across Maine and New Hampshire. That first year, employees contributed more than 2,400 volunteer hours among 65 organizations.

We are grateful to the Camden National Bank employees and Design Committee volunteers who worked side by side throughout the afternoon. Their willingness to dig in made a visible difference and gave our downtown beautification efforts an extra boost heading into fall.
