| | | | Ellsworth’s Downtown is Now on The National Register of Historic Places |
| |
For business and building owners, this designation is more than a point of pride. It is a practical opportunity. Downtown Ellsworth’s listing on the National Register of Historic Places recognizes the historic and architectural significance of our downtown, while opening the door to meaningful reinvestment that helps preserve character, support economic vitality, and strengthen the future of our commercial district. Because the designation is non regulatory, it does not place new restrictions on property owners, but it can create access to historic tax credit opportunities, including the 20% federal income tax credit on qualified rehabilitation expenses. |

With tourism season beginning soon, this article is a timely reminder that gateway communities like Ellsworth do far more than sit near major destinations. The piece shows that small businesses are part of what makes travel possible and memorable by offering the food, supplies, service, convenience, and welcoming experiences travelers rely on before, during, and after their time in places like Acadia. As you read, think about the role downtown businesses plays in that journey, because whether you serve coffee, stock essentials, create a great meal, or offer a friendly stop downtown, you are part of the value Ellsworth brings to every visitor’s experience. And when people experience downtown Ellsworth in a local, authentic way, that connection can be strong enough to bring them back again, not just as visitors passing through on their way to the national park, but as travelers choosing Ellsworth as the destination itself. |

| | | | Marketing Tip From Chesnee |
| |
If your business hosts events, Yodel is a free marketing tool you should be paying attention to. We launched this community calendar in partnership with the City of Ellsworth, and our channels are actively pushing viewers to it. That means it is another really valuable place for your business to show up and be seen. |
If you are hosting events and not seeing them appear on the calendar, it is worth checking in. In order for Yodel to pull your events in, businesses need to either create public Facebook events or make sure events are posted clearly on their website. If those pieces are missing, your event will not get picked up. Yodel is meant to be an easy tool to use, but like anything new, we are still working through a few kinks. We want this to be a useful resource for both businesses and the community, so if your events are not showing up, please reach out. We want to help make sure your business is being included. Using Yodel is one more simple way to get your events in front of more people, and when it is working the way it should, it helps all of us build a stronger and more connected downtown. Need help troubleshooting? Let's connect! I’m happy to help make sure your events are showing up the way they should. |
