Heart of Ellsworth Takes Major Step Towards Main Street Accreditation

Heart of Ellsworth, a Maine Downtown Affiliate community that grew out of the Downtown Ellsworth Merchants Association, announces a significant milestone in its mission to enhance the vitality of Ellsworth’s downtown district.

Heart of Ellsworth has retained Maine Preservation to lead the workshop series with support from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and sponsored by Nate Holyoke Builders. Additional local support from Design Group Collaborative, City of Ellsworth, and the Ellsworth Historical Society.

These workshops will take place at the Ellsworth Public Library on April 11th, and April 25th at 5:30 pm. The workshop series is open to all residents, community members building and business owners, nonprofit organizations, and developers interested in historic preservation.

Attend one workshop or attend them all. 
  • FOUNDATIONS OF PRESERVATION - MARCH 28 - 5:30 - 7 PM.
    This workshop has passed, but please contact us if you'd like a copy of the handouts.
  • FUNDING YOUR PRESERVATION PROJECT - APRIL 11 - 5:30 - 6:30 PM. This session will provide information on funding sources for preservation projects, including historic rehabilitation tax credits and grant programs.
  • MAKING OLD PLACES NEW AGAIN - APRIL 25 - 5:30 - 6:30 PM. Participants will learn about rehabilitation techniques and strategies for integrating modern systems while preserving the historic integrity of buildings.

Heart of Ellsworth is gearing up for our event season, and we are looking for talented volunteers to join our Promotions Committee! The Promotions Committee gathers monthly to coordinate community events that attract ideas, innovation, and people to our Downtown District and beyond.
If this committee sounds interesting, please join us for a no-strings-attached info session on April 18th from 4-5 pm and fill out the interest form below.

Maine Workforce Development Compact Info Session - The City of Ellsworth & the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce

Wednesday, April 3: 7:30 a.m. & 9 a.m.

Attend one of these informative sessions with The Harold Alfond Center for The Advancement of Maine's Workforce. Come find out how to potentially cut training prices in half for your business, organization, or non-profit.

Cabin Fever Vendor Sale - The Rotary Club of Ellsworth

Saturday, April 6: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. 
 

Over 80 vendors will be at the 2nd Annual Cabin Fever Vendor Sale and food will be available for purchase through the Ellsworth High School Interact Club. Proceeds will help fund Rotary Scholarships and Community Giving.

Ellsworth Community Music Institute (ECMI) offers its next Midday Concert @ 1:00 on April 12th, with Trio Kevin Morse (Guitar) Aija Kante-Cahn (Cello) Will Galison (Harmonica).

The Concert will feature music by: J.S Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, G.B. Pergolese, Manual De Falla, Villa Lobos, Gabriel Faure, Augustin Barrios, John Duarte and Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Tech Tools for Project Success - Ellsworth Public Library

Tuesday, April 16: 4-5 p.m.


Embarking on a project, whether it's for work or personal endeavors, can feel overwhelming, especially if you're not well-versed in the tools available. This hands-on workshop aims to merge the basics of project planning with the potential of everyday technology to demonstrate what you can achieve.

This program will cover essential skills like mastering spreadsheets (using Excel, Open OfficeCalc, etc.), creating visual representations of data, basic mathematical modeling, scheduling with Gantt charts, and even nonlinear regression analysis.

Need to hire for a seasonal position? The Summer Job and Volunteer Fair is open to all EHS students and is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of employment opportunities in our community. 

EHS welcomes organizations to participate in this event with a table. If interested in participating, please contact Katie Woodward, EHS Teacher and Fair Organizer, by Tuesday, April 16th.

Artsworth Wraps Up Another Successful Season

Artsworth offers programming during the winter months, September-April, in order to serve a growing and diverse community in Ellsworth.

Next season, kicking off in September, join them for an autumn dance to celebrate the end of summer, bi-weekly movies, regular workshops, The Fire Gathering, as well as their oh-so-popular weekly craft night, DOING!
