Own a Downtown Business? Join Maine Seaweed Week and Get Free Promotion

Maine Seaweed Week is back April 24 to May 3, 2026, and Heart of Ellsworth is inviting downtown Ellsworth businesses to be part of it.

In partnership with Maine Coast Sea Vegetables and Frenchman Bay Conservancy, we’re helping cultivate energy around this annual statewide celebration of Maine’s seaweed industry across food, wellness, retail, and art.

Why this matters for your business

Businesses that participate in some way during Maine Seaweed Week will receive free promotion alongside Heart of Ellsworth’s marketing efforts leading up to and during the event.

This is a chance to connect your business to a larger statewide initiative while gaining visibility here in downtown Ellsworth.

Participation can look different for every business

Getting involved does not have to mean creating something from scratch or doing something large scale.

Businesses can participate by:

  • Offering something special: A featured item, themed bundle, or limited time promotion during the week.

  • Creating an in store experience: A themed display, section, window painting, or simple activation that brings the event into your space.

For businesses that want support with ideas, products, or seaweed sourcing, there are resources available to help make participation feel doable.

Building off last year’s momentum

Last year showed that Maine Seaweed Week can generate real excitement downtown. This year, we’re expanding the ways businesses can get involved and creating more opportunities for participating businesses to be seen as part of the celebration. The 2026 week will include community events and a special seaweed themed Jane’s Walk on Saturday, May 2, which will highlight select participating businesses and the creative ways seaweed shows up in downtown products, offerings, and experiences.

Be part of the energy downtown

Whether you run a retail shop, restaurant, studio, wellness business, or another downtown business, Maine Seaweed Week is an opportunity to be creative, visible, and part of something bigger happening across the state.
