Laurel Fraley
Laurel Fraley moved to the Ellsworth area in 2023 in order to be closer to her family and work; two of her greatest passions. She was delighted to find Ellsworth to be a vibrant, engaging community, and has enjoyed getting more involved over the past three years through her work with Franklin Savings Bank, where she is a Banking Specialist. Her position with Franklin Savings has allowed her to build meaningful relationships with many of the city’s local business owners and residents. She feels there is a special joy in knowing your neighbors and takes pleasure in seeing the success of her community. New to the board, Laurel is eager to get more involved through her volunteer efforts.
Laurel is an avid lover of the outdoors and enjoys hiking, swimming, snow shoeing, fishing, and paddle boarding. She also enjoys reading, playing board games and painting miniatures in her spare time. She holds a BA in English with a focus in creative writing, though she writes mostly for her own enjoyment.
One of Laurel’s greatest passions is public space, and she believes that a good community has many opportunities for its residents to enjoy the outdoors during all of the great seasons Maine has to offer. This has become one of her favorite things about Ellsworth and its surrounding areas, and Heart of Ellsworth’s efforts towards creating spaces for the community was a major reason as to why she wanted to become more involved. In her opinion, Ellsworth is a place where there’s always a new adventure just around the corner, you just have to look.
