Phyllis Young

PAST PRESIDENT

phyllis400.jpg

A former member of the Downtown Ellsworth Association, Phyllis ushered the organization into what’s known today as the Heart of Ellsworth. As the organization's second President, Phyllis leads with her entire heart a ton of passion and a lifetime of experience. She was born in Bar Harbor just months before the Ellsworth hospital opened and was raised in Ellsworth.

Phyllis, now retired, brings her broad work experiences from Child and Family Opportunities, Acadia Senior College, Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and Woodlawn to our Board. When asked, she still says that her greatest work (with her husband, Reg) was the raising of her two girls here in Ellsworth.

Having held a variety of work positions that allowed me to interact and have an impact in our community, I knew it was important in my retirement to stay connected. Volunteering my time to an organization that has the best interest of Ellsworth and its downtown as its mission is a perfect fit. Heart of Ellsworth’s work is focused on the economic development and beautification of the City’s urban core. We work to better our waterfront and create a quality of life events and experiences for residents and visitors. Our board members and executive director are dedicated, fun to work with and have “can do” spirit and energy.
